cPanel/WHM enable ELS automatically, the below is to confirm it has been enabled.

Step 1: Access your Server

  • Log into your server via SSH

Step 2: Locate ELS Package

  • Run the command:
    yum info els-define

Step 3: Confirm ELS Installed

  • Check the output of the command, if ELS is installed the output will show:
    Installed Packages
    Name : els-define
    Arch : x86_64
    Version : 1
    Release : 1.0.4.el7
    Size : 52
    Repo : installed
    From repo : centos7-els
Summary : CentOS Server els-release file
    Licence : GPLv2
Description : CentOS Server els-release file

Your server now has ELS enabled and will start to receive security updates. No further action should be required and you can continue to use your server as you have before.

End-of-Life Operating System - Next Steps

ELS provides support for your EOL OS for the next couple of years, however, we encourage you to start the process of migrating over to a newer OS at the earliest opportunity, not only will this save you money on the cPanel license cost, it will also give you peace of mind that you are using the latest packages.

Having Problems?

If you are having any issues we recommend first consulting the cPanel Knowledge Base. Alternatively, please contact the support team via your billing portal.
